Internet Advertising Agency Post - Google Voice Search

As an internet advertising agency and UK PPC agency we always try to stay abreast of the latest search marketing news and I came across this on BBC News today.

According to the BBC the Google vice president of engineering, Vic Gundotra made an interesting comment during the web 2.0 Expo in San Francisco.

His words were "We believe voice search is a new form of search and that it is core to our business".

This will generate lots of questions from UK PPC agencies like BDR, such as, "How will paid search fit in to this offering". I haven't used this technology yet and will definitely be trying to test it out as soon as I've finished this post.

Mr Gundotra went on to comment that it is no longer clunky technology and that it continues to improve and grow very fast.

Mr Gundotra also commented that Google recently launched it on the iPhone and it has seen a 15% increase in accuracy as data is collected. As expected this sort of application will only improve with time as more data is collected on speech patterns and accents.

Google has also launched the application on a string of other mobiles including the Blackberry and T-mobile.

I think this is exactly the kind of app that will work on mobile, effectively making web search easier on the move. It will be interesting to see how Yahoo! and Microsoft react to this technology.

Over the last couple of years mobile marketing continues to gather momentum and as data usage becomes cheaper and more people own smart phones the true advent of mobile marketing is becoming more of a realisation.
