Internet advertising agencies don't have to deal with the matter of illegal music downloads but I'm sure quite a lot of staff in offices are using company PC's to download music illegally. According to Softpedia 95% of all music downloads were illegal. 95% that's an enormous amount, I'm surprised we aren't seeing pop stars being snapped in dole queues.
However, there seems to be a couple of guardian angels to the rescue. These come in the form of Last FM and Spotify. Both of these sites support the model of music funded by ad revenue. So will this be the end of illegal music downloads? Well, the answer is no not in the near future anyway. Last FM and Spotify don't allow you to actually download music they offer a chance to create your own play list service. So there is still a massive market for people wanting to download music to their MP3 players.
