Social Media - Connect with BDR London

With social networking now taking up the majority of time spent online how can an internet advertising agency leverage this to grow the business of our clients? Social media marketing is one way advertisers and brands can tap into the huge potential presented by social networking.

As an internet advertising agency it is our job to help you generate business. Social Media marketing is a great way to do this. The uptake of people using social networks in their spare time is massive Facebook in the UK alone has over 22 million users. This is 36% of the entire UK population. Twitter is also another very popular social network with around 5.5 million Britons using Twitter. It continues to grow the volume of users on a regular basis.

As an internet advertising agency it is important to be at the forefront of what's going on in the world of online advertising. Here are my predictions as to what will be big in 2010.

Social Media Marketing

This comes to no surprise everyone is using social media in one form. This may be via a blog, fan page, pod cast or online group. Any platform where people can interact with you and leave comments is a form of social media.

Social Media Marketing is the new buzz word that all internet advertising agencies are using. In 2010 this form of internet marketing is going to move to the next level. Social media optimisation has become increasingly popular with companies looking to push their services online.

You have heard of SEO, well in 2010 you will hear increasingly more about SMO social media optimisation. Social Media is a great way to connect with your potential customers, but it needs to be used in the right way. Social media is a two way conversation and not a push sales tactic.

Social Media Marketing is the hot buzz word on everyone's lips. Its real time current and the way we now connect with each other online. In many instances social media has over taken email in the way we interact.

I often post on someone's wall or create an event on Facebook to plan an evening out instead of emailing all my friends, that's just so 2000! Now social media is well and truly part of our lives it is becoming a useful tool for business too.

If I was to approach an internet advertising agency, what should I ask them to spend my marketing budget on? In order to work out where your marketing money is best spent you need to look at what you are trying to achieve. What are your campaign goals? Who are your target audience? What kind of budget do you have?

Many people come to BDR London and say they want to do Internet advertising, but this term is so vast where do you begin? There are so many forms of internet marketing including seo, ppc, display, affiliate, email, PR, social media marketing and viral.

Social Media Marketing is a great way to engage with your target audience. Many businesses work with an SEO agency to perform search engine optimisation as the search engines are used by most of the Internet population.

The rise in popularity of social media has meant the majority of advertisers online are using social media marketing as part of their internet advertising.  The UK Internet audience's love of social media has been cemented with the media well and truly celebrating its use. The NMA Effectiveness Awards demonstrated how brands are embracing social media and integrating it with online marketing activity.

What is Web 3.0 and why are we talking about it? To answer this question we will have to take a step back and look at what Web 2.0 is.

Back in 2004, O'Reilly Media and MediaLive International had a conference that discussed the future of the web and emerging techniques that would help ensure it succeeded. During this brainstorming session, the phrase Web 2.0 was used to describe the new Web environment that emerged after the dot com crash of 2000.

Nielson Online have revealed that the largest demographic on the web is now women aged 35-39, making up 15% of the UK Internet population.  The next largest demographic is 18-34 year old women and men 35-49 years each representing 14%.

Despite women being the leading demographic online they are behind in their use of the mobile web; with only 40% of mobile Internet users being female. However, over the next few years I expect this will level out. The research showed that the women that used mobile Internet were more likely than men to access social networks.
