The rise in popularity of social media has meant the majority of advertisers online are using social media marketing as part of their internet advertising.  The UK Internet audience's love of social media has been cemented with the media well and truly celebrating its use. The NMA Effectiveness Awards demonstrated how brands are embracing social media and integrating it with online marketing activity.

What is Web 3.0 and why are we talking about it? To answer this question we will have to take a step back and look at what Web 2.0 is.

Back in 2004, O'Reilly Media and MediaLive International had a conference that discussed the future of the web and emerging techniques that would help ensure it succeeded. During this brainstorming session, the phrase Web 2.0 was used to describe the new Web environment that emerged after the dot com crash of 2000.

Nielson Online have revealed that the largest demographic on the web is now women aged 35-39, making up 15% of the UK Internet population.  The next largest demographic is 18-34 year old women and men 35-49 years each representing 14%.

Despite women being the leading demographic online they are behind in their use of the mobile web; with only 40% of mobile Internet users being female. However, over the next few years I expect this will level out. The research showed that the women that used mobile Internet were more likely than men to access social networks.

All internet advertising agencies are doing these days is praising about the power of Twitter to their clients. At BDR we still hear a lot of clients saying we don't really get it. Check out this very good cartoon about Twitter we think it really conveys exactly what Twitter is all about.

You can go in to any internet advertising agency and you will hear the word social media said a dozen times a day. As social media continues to grow in popularity we at BDR find that we are using the terms 'social marketing' and 'social media' often and usually always in conjunction when we are discussing search engine optimisation.

As an internet advertising agency we are increasingly being asked by our clients how can we leverage these uncertain times to their advantage using online marketing. Now more than ever it's important to try and use every available tool.

BDR has experienced a large surge in demand for our SEO Services and many of our clients are rationalising it with the intent on trying to capture a larger market share using the massive popularity of search engines.

Every Internet advertising agency I know in London is clambering to get on Twitter.  It's big news   everyone is talking about it and if they aren't talking about it they're on it. But the question is because every man and his dog is on it, does it make it un-cool?

Well I think some of the hardcore social media enthusiasts are going too be turned off by all the attention Twitter is receiving. So what's out there for the ultra cool brands looking for the next big thing in the social media marketing world?

Social Media marketing is still in its infancy, with many rules and regulations still needing to be figured out. Social media poses all sorts of privacy concerns. Many people now record their lives in pictures and "wall posts" about events that happened.
